Profile

On a former shipyard on the river Spree, Tanja Lincke and her team are working on conversions and new buildings of various scales. The focus of their work is on finding the balance between a conscious approach to the site as it is found, an unobtrusive staging of the existing conditions and the careful addition of new, boldly positioned elements. When dealing with existing buildings, the emphasis is on preserving the traces of aging and leaving them legible, while new construction projects follow a clear inner logic and thus blend naturally into their surroundings. The visual continuity between nature and architecture through the selection of materials that will age well is an important aspect. While developing a project, conceptual and constructional decisions are repeatedly examined both through the physical architectural model as well as by using atmospheric collages.
